Highlights

Installation of a CX5-50 ceramic disc vacuum filtration system at a Peruvian underground polymetallic mine to improve the dewatering process for the copper-zinc concentrate.
The CX-Series filter replaced an antiquated drum filter, resolving performance issues and maintaining correct moisture content in the final concentrate filter-cake.
Installing the CX5-50 system boosted total concentrate output, and ensured the final concentrate adheres to moisture content target for shipment and sale.

Challenge

Upon installation of a vertical regrinding circuit to boost metals recovery, the traditional drum vacuum filter was no longer able to maintain appropriate moisture levels. To ensure that the transportable-moisture-limits and shipping cost targets would be met, a solution with higher differential pressure was required.

Solution

We installed a single CX5-50 (50 m2) ceramic disc vacuum filtration system for use dewatering of the final zinc concentrate produced by this underground mining operation in Cerro de Pasco, Peru.

Benefit

The new filter replaced the antiquated drum filter, improved performance, and ensured adequate moisture contents were achieved in the final concentrate filter cake.
