CEC Mining Systems (CECMS) has established a strategic collaboration with Canadian Critical Minerals Research (CCMR) and Dewater Filter Press (Italy) to deliver integrated tailings dewatering solutions for the mining industry.

The collaboration brings together bench and pilot-scale testwork, engineering, and high-pressure filtration technology under a single aligned project model — designed to support mining companies and EPCM firms from early-stage concept through to execution.

The Challenge This Addresses

One of the persistent challenges in dewatering-intensive tailings projects is the gap between laboratory characterisation and reliable full-scale performance. When testwork, engineering, and OEM knowledge operate as separate workstreams, the translation from bench result to plant design carries more uncertainty than it should — and that uncertainty typically shows up late, when it is most costly to resolve.

This collaboration is structured specifically to close that gap.

How the Integrated Model Works

The three-party collaboration covers the full project development cycle:

1. Testwork & Characterisation — CCMR (Kamloops, BC)
Bench and pilot-scale filtration testwork completed locally in British Columbia. Material behaviour characterisation, equipment sizing, and selection criteria are established before design begins — ensuring that the data driving engineering decisions is project-specific and validated.

2. Engineering & Project Development — CEC Mining Systems
Stage-gate engineering from early concept through to formal investment decision. CECMS provides basic and detailed engineering, as well as EPS, EPC, and EPCM project execution — using traditional or modular construction models depending on project requirements.

3. Pressure Filtration Technology — Dewater Filter Press (Italy)
Proprietary high-pressure filter press technology from one of Europe’s leading pressure filtration manufacturers. Dewater’s OEM subject matter expertise is integrated directly into equipment selection and design from the concept stage — not introduced post-award — ensuring continuity between testwork outcomes and final equipment specification.

What This Means for Your Project

By aligning these three capabilities from the earliest project phases, the collaboration delivers:

Reduced uncertainty in equipment selection

Materials characterisation is completed alongside OEM expertise, allowing process guarantees to be established earlier and with fewer late-stage design revisions.

Consistency from lab result to plant design

Engineering and OEM knowledge inform the same model, minimising interface losses between testwork, design, and procurement phases.

Faster progression through project stage-gates

As an integrated team, schedules and hold points can move without the delays typically introduced when testwork, engineering, and equipment supply are managed across separate organisations.
